Warm Hug Heart – Pattern

Materials

Vardhman Blanket yarn 200g/11 4m, in double stranded. (Find it at Vardhman Knitworld)
Shade BTL012/white – 200g or
Shade BTH)21/pink – 200g

Crochet hook 9 mm

Other materials
Scissors
1 stitch marker for beginning of the round
Darning needle
Fiberfill

Abbreviations
St – stitch, stiches
sc – single crochet
inc – increase, 2 sc into 1 st
dec – decrease, sc in two spaces ending with one st in the top
r – round

START THE PIECE HERE:

1. Top of the heart (make 2)

Start with magic ring.

R 1: 6 sc into ring. Work in round. (6)

R 2: inc into each st. (12)

R 3: *sc, inc.  Repeat from * around. (18)

R 4: *inc, sc 2. Repeat from * around. (24)

R 5: *sc 3, inc. Repeat from * around. (30)

R 6-9: sc into each st around. (30)

Fasten off, cut the yarn leaving the 15 cm yarn tail.

The yarn tail from fastening off the first top is used to carefully close the opening formed when the two pieces are joined.

Repeat instructions for second top, do not cut the yarn.

2. Joining two parts and completing the heart

R 10: continue to work with the yarn from the second top, sc over the first top (30), with the same yarn sc over the second top (30) – (60)

R 11-13: sc over all st. (60)

R 14: *dec, sc 4. Repeat from * around. (50)

R 15-16: sc over all st. (50)

R 17: *sc 3, dec. Repeat from * around. (40)

R 18: sc over all st. (40)

R 19: *dec, sc 2. Repeat from * around. (30)

R 20: sc over all st. (30)

R 21: *sc 3, dec. Repeat from * around. (24)

R 22: sc over all st. (24)

R 25: *dec, sc 2. Repeat from * around. (18)

R 26: sc over all st. (18)

Stuff the heart with fiberfill, ensuring the heart shape is maintained.

R 27: *sc, dec. Repeat from * around. (12)

R 28: sc over all st. (12)

R 29: *dec. Repeat from * around. (6)

Fasten off, weave through the last stitches, pull tight to close, and weave in the ends.

Thread the yarn tail from the first top onto a tapestry needle and sew the hole between the two tops of the heart closed. Weave in the end inside the heart.
