Summer Knitting Retreat Concludes on a High Note

Our two-day Summer Knitting Retreat 2026 recently came to a delightful close, leaving behind new skills, new friendships, invitations to visit different cities, and many happy memories.

Over the course of the retreat, participants immersed themselves in the art of knitting while enjoying the peace and beauty of the mountains. The sessions focused on learning to read knitting chart patterns and exploring the fascinating technique of brioche knitting. Whether participants were discovering these skills for the first time or refining their existing knowledge, the atmosphere was one of curiosity, encouragement, and shared learning.

Some of the knitting material used in the retreat. Apart from these every participant also received a gift hamper of yarns from Vardhman.

Beyond the knitting sessions, the retreat also offered an opportunity to slow down and enjoy life’s simple pleasures. Days began with the cheerful songs of birds and views of the surrounding greenery and the valley in front. Between workshops, participants relaxed in nature, exchanged stories, shared knitting experiences, enjoyed local delicacies, and formed meaningful connections with fellow enthusiasts.

The first day brought scattered showers, and we spent a cosy afternoon in the conservatory, surrounded by various herbs and other plants. As the skies cleared on the second day, we ventured into the orchard, where tall trees provided a beautiful backdrop to our knitting and conversations. Along the way, a few curious little wild creatures watched us from a distance, seemingly as interested in our gathering as we were in the natural world around us.

Freshly prepared meals added to the experience, bringing everyone together around the table for conversations, and as can be guessed – focused on knitting. Good food, good company, and a shared passion for creativity made the retreat especially memorable.

One of the greatest compliments we received was that several participants chose to extend their stay after the retreat officially ended. They wished to spend a little more time enjoying the tranquil surroundings, the fresh mountain air, and the relaxed pace of life here. This obviously involved a lot of discussions in the free time around knitting techniques, yarns, and various unfinished knitting projects (who doesn’t have those?).

We are grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make this retreat such a success. Thank you for bringing your enthusiasm, creativity, and warmth. We hope you returned home with new knitting skills, renewed inspiration, and cherished memories of time spent amidst nature. Special thanks to Vardhman for sponsoring the yarns, and to Maini’s Hill Cottages for their hospitality.

We look forward to welcoming you and many others again in future retreats and gatherings.

Until then, happy knitting!
